Homes For Our Troops

Today Dan and I were fortunate enough to have the opportunity to volunteer for an organization called Home For Our Troops.  I was contacted by the organization several months ago and asked to donate time and photography.  The organization is dedicated to providing homes to severely wounded veterans.

Bryant Jacobs, a 28-year-old veteran from Herriman, UT was wounded by a road-side bomb.  After 37 surgeries, he's up and walking, although not without much hardship.  He is also missing his large intestine, which makes daily activities very challenging.

Today, Homes For Our Troops raised the walls to his new home.  Located against the base of the Oquirrh Mountains, it has an amazing view, but not only that, it has special adjustments meant to make living easier for Jacobs.

Fox 13 was there to document the event.  See their coverage here. Dan and I will be back to document more of the event tomorrow and Thursday, here are some of my favorites from today.

We are thrilled to be a part of this and are looking forward to the finished product!  Welcome Home Bryant!

How funny that you are photographing this, he must be just a few streets away from us. Nice of you to donate your time and talents, you're such a sweet person!

It was an awesome opportunity to do this for him. After hearing his story I was amazed at how optimistic and good natured he was.
